LabelTranslator: A System for Localizing Ontologies in Collaborative Settings

LabelTranslator is a system to semi-automatically localize ontologies in different natural languages: it extracts, translates and updates the lexicon of an ontology. Its objective is to support the development of multilingual ontologies, combining and exploiting the linguistic and semantic knowledge available on the Web to discover the translations of each ontology entity. We present the design of LabelTranslator, which have been guided by the requirements of international institutions as FAO for localizing different types of resources such as thesauri or ontologies. In particular, the three main activities handled by LabelTranslator are detailed: managing the multilingual content for localization, monitoring and control the localization activity, and discovering the more appropriate translations for each ontology entity.
